Guidelines and Criteria for Competition on Re-use of PET

The Government of Guyana, UNICEF, UNDP, PAHO, Banks DIH Limited and Demerara Distillers Limited have come together to promote the re-use and recycling of plastic bottle waste. The improper disposal of this waste is one of the gravest environmental problems faced by Guyana. This waste is non-biodegradable and as such can cause increased health costs and can contribute to infrastructure costs.

A public awareness campaign, taking the form of a competition, rewarding the best ideas to re-use and recycle plastic bottle waste is being conducted with the help of all the parties. The guidelines and criteria for the competition, including the great prizes that can be won are shown below.
